We are seeking a Senior Artificial Intelligence Engineer for Airbus Defence and Space Romania to design, build, integrate, and deploy production-grade software applications powered by AI models. Unlike traditional data science roles focused on model research, this position sits at the intersection of advanced AI and full-stack software engineering. You will transition model proof of concepts into scalable production services, build modern Generative AI pipelines, and manage containerized deployments.

From a business perspective, our projects are mostly security-related, in areas like Intelligence / Data Processing / Data Analysis / Surveillance. 

Areas of impact: Agentic AI / Generative AI / Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning / Deep Learning / Natural Language Processing  

 

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate technical feasibility, convert client requirements into resilient software architectures with granular features, and formulate precise effort estimates.

• Design multi-component secure microservice architectures and scalable REST/FastAPI endpoints for AI model serving.

• Build autonomous agentic systems with complex custom tool usage and advanced multi-modal Generative AI pipelines.

• Provide technical guidance for specific projects and mentor junior and mid-level engineers. Assist with recruitment interviews and help establish team best practices and coding standards.

• Manage Kubernetes deployments, construct automated CI/CD pipelines, and oversee containerized application lifecycles.

• Optimize hardware compute utilization, including GPU/Memory sizing and CUDA optimization for efficient inference workloads.

• Scout emerging software and AI technologies to continually refine the team's standard technology stack.

Requirements:

Specific knowledge:

Mandatory

• At least 5 years of proven experience in software engineering and AI implementations.

• Strong background in Artificial Intelligence principles, Deep Learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), and Python.

• Expertise in object-oriented design, SOLID principles, and building secure JSON APIs.

• Hands-on experience with GenAI frameworks (e.g. LangChain, Google ADK, vLLM) and vector databases like Qdrant or Milvus.

• Deep knowledge of container orchestration (e.g. OpenShift, Docker/Podman, Helm) and in cloud-native infrastructure design.

• Multi-agent orchestration, familiarity with productionizing RAG-based applications and evaluation metrics for retrieval and generation., prompt engineering at scale 

• Solid understanding of Natural Language Processing concepts and their application in production 

• Experience with Computer Vision algorithms and frameworks 

Nice to have

• Reinforcement learning / Signal Processing / Data Science knowledge

• Inference serving (TensorRT/Triton)
